Enrolling in classes and bringing in the necessary forms to have your classes approved is one of the most fun and also most tedious part of the whole concurrent enrollment process.
The forms you will need are called the K-12 and Concurrent Enrollment forms. These are two different forms and serve different purposes for each school. In this article, we will be focusing on the K-12 form only.
Colleges do not need to see the Concurrent Enrollment form since it is only required for the high school records. Here is a detailed list that explains the class enrollment process.
What is a K-12 Form?
This form is used for both Community College and High School records
The form will most likely be available in the Counseling Office or on the school’s website
Fill out the form, have it signed by the student, parent, and counselor
Bring the form to Admissions and Records at your Community College
Make sure every single class you want is on the list for classes to be approved, including backup courses
Make sure you put Course Numbers (ex. ART 101), NOT Class Numbers (ex. 25436)
Save yourself the stress of having to repeat this process after the open enrollment period begins when better classes fill up
Bring K-12 form to Admission
To get your classes approved so that you can enroll in them, you must bring your filled out K-12 form, signed by all necessary parties.
The course approval process will be completed once an Admissions & Records assistant inputs the course approvals, once you leave the Admissions & Records office you will be approved for those courses, however, you will not be able to enroll until the open enrollment date.
In your student portal, you may keep courses in your class shopping cart and enroll in them once the open enrollment date comes.
Enroll in classes on Open Enrollment Date Appointment
The open enrollment period will open at a certain time
Personally, my enrollment period began at 8 am
Repeat the last two steps for each semester
This process may seem a little overwhelming at first, however, it gets a lot easier after the first semester. If you choose a community college that is close to you, this process can actually be a fun errand that you can complete during your high school lunch break.
